Duloxetine Side Effects

Duloxetine Drug Interaction

Patients are advised to inform their doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter medicines and supplements they are taking or planning to take. It is advised because Duloxetine is known to interact with certain drugs. Antibiotics and psychotic disorder medicines are recommended to be avoided while taking Cymbalta because these combinations of drugs can potentially lead to life threatening condition. Some other drugs that should be avoided while taking Duloxetine include:

NSAID pain relievers
Blood thinners like Warfarin
Aspirin
Tramadol
Tryptophan
Carbolith
Zyvox
Migraine medicines

MAOI antidepressant like isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine should be avoided while taking Cymbalta. Patients who have taken any of the MAOI antidepressant should not start Duloxetine within the two weeks. Patients using Cymbalta should not start any of these MAOI antidepressants, as these drugs can only be started after 5 days of stopping Duloxetine.

Seizures
Blood clotting disorder
Glaucoma
High blood pressure
Bipolar disorder

Cymbalta Warnings

Certain warnings are associated with the use of Duloxetine and patients are should be made aware of these precautions and warnings. Some of the warnings that must be kept in mind by the patients include:

This drug may cause drowsiness so patients using this drug are advised to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery while taking this drug.
Women who are pregnant or planning pregnancy should avoid using this drug.
Drinking alcohol while taking Cymbalta may cause severe liver damage.
Duloxetine may cause drop in blood pressure so the patients using this drug must be careful while moving from a lying or sitting position. This drug
may cause dizziness or light headedness feeling at the start of the treatment.
This drug starts showing is effect after two to four weeks of continuously use. Therefore, patients must continue using this drug for the prescribed
period in order to have the best effect of the medication.
This drug is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
