Levaquin

Ingredients in Levaquin
Levofloxacin is the active ingredient present in Levaquin whereas inactive ingredients present in the drug include Crospovidone, Hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, titanium dioxide, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, Polysorbate 80 and synthetic red and yellow iron oxide.
The liquid suspension of Levaquin contains inactive ingredients glycerin, sucrose, propylene glycol, artificial and natural flavors, benzyl alcohol, ascorbic acid, caramel color, hydrochloric acid and purified water.
How Levaquin Works
The exact mechanism of the drug is not known, but it is believed that this drug works by fighting with the bacteria in the body. The active ingredient Levofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic type of drug that is used to treat bacterial infections. Thus, Levofloxacin kills the bacteria inside the body that cause infection. It kills the bacteria by entering into the bacterial cells and preventing bacterial enzyme from repairing and replicating the genetic material of the bacteria. Thus, by preventing bacterial enzyme from working, the bacteria are also unable to reproduce and repair themselves thereby leaving the body bacteria free.
