Zetia Usage Instructions

It is important for the patients to follow proper usage instructions. Following usage instruction should be carefully followed by the patients:

• Take one Ezetimibe tablet in a day.
• To avoid missing the dose, one should take it at the same time every day.
• This drug can be taken before during or after the meal.
• One should never increase or decrease the dosages without consulting the doctor and should complete the course of the drug.
• This drug should be complimented with cholesterol-lowering diet, exercise and weight control.
• If taking a bile acid sequestrant like Cholestyramine or Colestipol, one should take Ezetimibe at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after taking these drugs.

Dosages

It is important for the patients to stick to the doctor’s prescribed dosage because dosages are prescribed depending upon patient’s age, health condition, severity of the problem and other medications administered by the patients. The recommended dose of Ezetimibe for lowering the cholesterol level in the blood is 10 mg once in a day.

Missed Dose and Overdose

It is likely for the patients to miss a dose of Ezetimibe. In case of missed dose, patients can take it as soon as they remember and if it is the time for next dose, patients can skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Double dose of the drug is not recommended in any condition.

Overdose of the drug should be strictly avoided and if any patient has accidently taken the overdose of the drug, then the victims should be immediately provided with required medical attention.

Storage Instructions

Ezetimibe should be stored at temperature 25° C and should be kept away from direct heat and sunlight. This will ensure the quality and efficacy of the drug for longer period of time. The drug should be kept away from children and pets. All the unused and expired drugs should be safely disposed.
