Usage Instruction of Flovent

It is prudent to follow the doctor’s instructions in order to get desired benefits. Some of important instructions associated with drug are:

• Do not increase or decrease the dosage without doctor’s consultation
• Unless doctor advice, do not stop taking the drug even if a person starts feeling better
• Do not swallow the Diskus powder

Flovent Dosage

The dosage of Flovent varies from patient to patient. Factors like age, severity of asthma and other medications a person is taking, etc., are considered before recommending any dosage of the drug.

For Children (4-11 years old):

• The recommended dosage of Flovent HFA is two inhalations of 44mcg taken two times in a day.
• The recommended dosage of Flovent Diskus is one inhalation of 50mcg taken two times in a day with maximum dosage is two inhalations of 100mcg taken twice in a day.

Recommended dosage of Flovent HFA in For Adults and adolescent 12 years and above:

• If patients are taking bronchodilators, the recommended initial dosage is two inhalations of 44mcg taken two times in a day.
• If they are taking inhaled steroid, two inhalations of 44mcg or 110mcg taken two times in a day is recommended as initial dosage. Maximum dosage is recommended as two inhalations of 220mcg twice daily.
• If they are taking oral steroids, two inhalations of 220mcg taken two times in a day is initial dosage. Maximum dosage of four inhalations of 220mcg twice daily is recommended.

Flovent Missed and Over dosage

If any patient misses the schedule dosage of drug, the patient is advice to take dosage upon remembering it. If it is almost time to take the next dosage, avoid taking the missed dosage and continue with the next scheduled dose. Do not make mistake of doubling the dosage to make up for the missed dosage.

Any accidental overdose of the medications should be reported to a doctor immediately.

Storage

Store the drug at room temperature i.e. at 25-30 degree Celsius (68-77 F). Keep it away from heat and moisture and out of reach of pets and children.
