Flovent Side-effects

Some of the serious side-effects of the drug which need immediate medical attention are:

  • Numbness, pain, muscle weakness
  • Blurred vision, eye pain
  • Skin rash, severe tingling
  • Worsening asthma symptoms
  • Wheezing or breathing problems
  • Signs of infection like fever, chills, ear pain, etc.

Drug Interactions of Fluticasone

Many drugs interact with Fluticasone inhalation and may affect its pharmacological action. Thus, patients taking any prescription, non-prescription, herbal or vitamin supplements need to disclose them to their doctor. If patients are taking any of the following medicines they should consult with their doctor prior taking Flovent:

  • Conivaptan
  • Isoniazid (for treating tuberculosis)
  • Imatinib
  • Antifungal medications like itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole, etc.
  • Antibiotics like clarithromycin, telithromycin, erythromycin
  • Antidepressants like Nefazodone
  • Heart or blood pressure medications like nicardipine, verapamil, etc.
  • HIV/AIDS medications like delavirdine, fosamprenavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, etc.

Flovent Important Warnings and Precautions

The drug is not recommended for everyone. There are several medical conditions that may be contraindicated with Flovent therapy. So, if patients have had any of the following conditions – they should talk to their doctor prior to taking this drug:

  • Have not taken vaccination against chickenpox or measles
  • Cataract or glaucoma
  • Tuberculosis, herpes, or any other infection
  • Eczema
  • Allergies to preservatives, food or dyes
  • Pregnancy or breast-feeding
  • Suffering from any kind of infection
  • Patients are strictly recommended not to use Flovent for treating sudden symptoms of asthma.
  • They are below 4 years of age
  • They are allergic to its active or inactive ingredient
