Canadian Drugs save Cancer Sufferer
A man diagnosed with stage four colon cancer has come through his ordeal thanks to Canadian drugs. Sixty year old Roman Gawur, a father of two from Etobicoke in Ontario, was diagnosed with the deadly disease four years ago in 2006, but the Canada drugs and excellent treatment he received in Ontario has saved his life, even though the cancer had already spread to his lymph nodes (and later on to his liver) before it was even diagnosed.
I responded well to the drug treatment, Gawur says. We have good facilities and doctors here. Good access to drugs is key. Gawur originally paid for the Canadian drugs cocktail he received from his own savings. Later on, surgery removed part of his colon, lymph nodes and later on sixty five percent of his liver, after which he was forced to be subjected to no less than thirteen rounds of chemotherapy. By August 2007, the disease had apparently gone, but Gawur still had to undergo a further four rounds of chemo, just to be sure. Gawur says the late diagnosis was a result of experiencing no symptoms from the slowly spreading cancer, which may have been masked by other Canada drugs medication he was taking for a heart condition.
Early screening and access to drugs and treatment has helped, says the president of the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada, Barry Stein, says, but there is still more we can do to keep a significant amount of people from dying of the disease.
